2012 Snowdon Awards

The application window starts on February 1st and closes on August 31st. The deadline for applications to be considered at the Summer Panel is May 31st.

Online forum launched

An online forum, enabling past and present Snowdon awardees to share views, issues and advice, has been launched.

Lord Snowdon’s 80th Birthday

250 people attended a fabulous 80th birthday party for Lord Snowdon in London’s Porchester Hall on Friday 5th March. The party included a spectacular repertoire from the Royal Ballet and a performance by singer Maria Friedman.

Snowdon Rowing Challenge promoted at the London International Boat Show

GB Rowing team member Tom Wilkinson took the stage at the recent London International Boat Show to help promote the Scheme’s forthcoming indoor rowing challenge.

Clay Pigeon Shoot Raises £18,000 for the Scheme (September 2007)

A clay shoot in the Surrey countryside that was the fund-raising idea of our trustee, Sidney L Hunt of long-term supporters, the National Federation of Demolition Contractors.

Snowdon Survey Success (July 2007)

As a direct result of issues highlighted by The Snowdon Award Scheme, the Government has announced substantial increases in statutory funding allowances for disabled students in Higher Education from 2008/9.

The Snowdon Survey - news update (February 2007)

The results of The Snowdon Survey 2006 were published in November and later that month, Lord Morris of Manchester raised a question in the House of Lords, asking the Government what consideration has been given to the Survey’s findings and whether action will be taken as a result.

With 2006 marking the 25th anniversary of the Snowdon Award Scheme, we conducted a survey into the fundamentals of the Disabled Students Allowance, finding that too many disabled students are still being failed by the support system.

Downing Street reception launches anniversary (May 2006)

A number of our long-term supporters, and newer friends, joined with a few of our founding trustees to mark the start of the charity's 25th anniversary at a private reception in 10 Downing Street hosted by Cherie Booth QC.
