“The scheme gave me a grant to help purchase the wheelchair, trike, cushions and other equipment to enable me to move around the very hilly terrain of my campus safely.”

Clay Shoot Fundraiser

A clay shoot in the Surrey countryside that was the fund-raising idea of our trustee, Sidney L Hunt of long-term supporters, the National Federation of Demolition Contractors.

100 people, including corporate supporters and associates of the charity, took part in a morning’s traditional shoot. This was followed by a fund-raising dinner that was attended by Lord Snowdon and included an auction with many attractive lots.

Among the auction prizes was a signed photograph of actress Dame Helen Mirren, donated by Lord Snowdon. The most unusual lot must have been the opportunity to spend a day’s demolition donated by 777 Demolition, using a high-reach excavator that features a record reach of 60m.

Sidney hunt said afterwards: “This was the first fundraising activity event that the Snowdon Award Scheme has undertaken and it was an honour to have helped organise it. As a Trustee, I would like to thank everyone who attended or supported the shoot in other ways and I think all those who came along had a great day”
