Six new trustee appointments announced
Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson is just one of an impressive line-up of six new trustees appointed by The Snowdon Award Scheme.
Our six new trustees are:
- Baronness (Tanni) Grey-Thompson DBE – one of our greatest paralympians
- Lady Frances von Hofmannsthal – daughter of Lord Snowdon and director of his company Armstrong Jones
- Lord (Colin) Low of Dalston CBE – who was Chair of RNIB for 9 years and has been President of the European Blind Union since 2003
- Dr Wendy Piatt – Director General of the Russell Group of Universities
- Simon Preece – Director of Elmwood, a brand and marketing communications consultancy.
- Amber Rudd MP – MP for Hastings and Rye whose previous career was in finance and recruitment. Her father was blinded in WW2.
Despite significant improvements to statutory funding over the Scheme’s 30-year history, we are still seeing increased demand for our support. However, fundraising has become more challenging. So we are delighted to have such an injection of fresh ideas and enthusiasm. Everyone at the Scheme is absolutely delighted with the calibre of our new appointments and we feel confident that we will be able to carry on giving the vital support that our disabled student applicants need.
